HPPLC Overview
Our Mission
To help Indiana University students, from freshman to alumni, become thoughtful, well-prepared applicants to professional schools across the country.
What We Do
The Health Professions and Prelaw Center provides preprofessional advising and services for students interested in pursuing careers in law, medicine, and other health fields. Students considering careers in these professions must excel academically and plan carefully. The Health Professions and Prelaw Center (HPPLC) assists them throughout their undergraduate years to become well-informed and well prepared. Acceptance to these professional schools requires not only academic talent but also a complete understanding of the application and selection process.
We direct our advising toward preparation for careers in the professions, not just toward what will look good on a med school or law school application. Our office has a broad reach across our campus and beyond it. We regularly meet with students at the high school level; current Indiana University students; and alumni.
For Prospective Students
If you are not currently a student at Indiana University Bloomington, but are considering becoming one, we encourage you to contact the Office of Admissions to schedule a campus tour (812.855.3512). As part of your visit, you may ask them to schedule you for an appointment with an advisor in the Health Professions and Prelaw Center. We would enjoy the opportunity to discuss your interests, tell you more about HPPLC, and answer your questions.
For Current IUB Students or Alumni
To make an appointment: If you are a current IUB student we encourage you to make an appointment to meet with a preprofessional advisor in your prospective field(s). Just drop by or call 812.855.1873 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and our receptionist will find a mutually convenient time. Please note that advisors cannot schedule appointments over email.
