Letters of Recommendation

Optometry schools vary in their requirements for letters of recommendation. Most optometry schools will require a minimum of three letters of recommendation; often sending more (if the school will allow) can strengthen your application. The Indiana University School of Optometry requires a minimum of three letters of recommendation. It is preferred that at least one of the letters be from an optometrist that you worked with or job shadowed for an extended period of time. You should check with other optometry schools regarding their guidelines on letters of recommendation.

Letters of recommendation are sent to optometry schools directly from the recommenders through the OptomCAS application system.  For more information please refer to the section on this website on Applying to Optometry School.
